Just when you thought Japan couldn’t get any weirder (admit it, you watched those weird tentacle cartoons at least once), the latest craze out of the Land of the Rising Sun has dog owners turning their canine companions into Minecraft-inspired creatures.

Japan’s love for the cube isn’t anything new – they’ve been selling square watermelons for $125 a pop for several years now – but this is, apparently, the first time they’ve applied it to live animals. The perfectly-shaved pups debuted at a recent dog show in Tokyo, and it seems like it won’t be long before we start seeing them pop up in Hollywood.
