Multiple Witchcraft Related Deaths Hit India Within a Week

witchcraftdeaths

Three unrelated deaths linked to witchcraft occurred this week in the West Singhbhum district of India.

The first, 55-year old Rajnigandha Mukhi died after cutting a major vein in her leg during a ritual meant to appease the gods. Mukhi, who had been intending to offer only a little blood, bled so profusely the neighboring villagers were not able to carry her body and she died almost immediately in her home. Mukhi’s death comes after two separate incidences of murder accrued earlier in the week.

According to the Times of India, Forty-five year old Donga Tamsai was viciously decapitated by her nephew for allegedly practicing witchcraft. The attacker then hid the body of his aunt in the nearby jungle. The officer in charge at the Jhinkpani police station was made aware of the murder on Saturday and sent men out to retrieve the body where they discovered it in separate parts of the jungle.
