Centuries, after the Green Children of Woolpit, some dog-breeders were appalled to find two of their new-born puppies soaked in green!
In the Valladolid province of Spain, dog breeders Aida Vallelado Molina and her father were astonished on June 3rd, as they found two newly born puppies, smaller and weaker than the lot stained in green.
Of the two canines, the female died shortly after birth, while the male is still alive, albeit weak. Daniel Valverde, a local vet, is investigating the cause of the green color of their fur, and the reason for the death of the female puppy.
A pair of dog breeders in the Spanish province of Valladolid were shocked recently when two pups were born green.
“I couldn’t believe it when I first saw them,” Aida Vallelado Molina told The Local. “I thought the puppies were dirty and tried to clean them, but the colour wouldn’t come off.”
The animals, born on June 3rd, were smaller and weaker than the other pups in the litter. One of them, a female, died shortly after birth while the male pup is still alive, but very weak.
The cause of the death of the dead puppy, and the reason for its odd coloring, are now being investigated by local vet Daniel Valverde.
“There are no other recorded cases of this happening in Spanish scientific literature,” he told the local newspaper Laguna al Día.
Virological and bacteriological tests are being carried out, and hopefully, we’ll soon have an answer. Do you want a green puppy? Fill out an adoption form on our Facebook page, at Twitter, or in the comments below!
