Atari game reinvents the haunted house

Forget that annoying monotonous Flappy Bird or the pointlessly addictive Candy Crush Saga. If you want some spooky fun for your phone or iPad, Atari just released a redeveloped version of their old 1981 Haunted House® game for iOS devices.

While it’s very different from the original survival horror Atari game, those bright white eyes of your character seem slightly familiar. The new version of Haunted House® has a certain Tim-Burton-meets-Scooby-Doo vibe to it, but unlike the Pac-Man style of the original, the new platforming game features dangerous obstacles, deadly traps, and creatures that are out to kill you.

Atari’s Haunted House is available for free at the Apple Store, so you won’t feel like you’ve wasted your money if you don’t like it. And it’s a much more entertaining way to kill time than watching hours of infrared footage showing people stumbling around in the dark.
