Gazing Into the Abyss: The Earth is Mysteriously Opening Up in Arizona

A gigantic crack has formed in land owned by the Navajo Nation in Arizona, and its mysterious appearance has residents concerned about the implications of an overnight Grand Canyon splitting the earth in two.

The rift was first noticed a a few weeks ago just east of Flagstaff, and since then, the crack in the earth has grown so large that efforts were made to begin building a fence to keep the unaware from falling into the dark abyss, the depths of which are currently unknown.

The US Geological Survey says that quakes are no big deal in Arizona, popping up here and there, but never with enough impact to so much as a rattle a building, much less tear open the ground.

According to the Navajo Post, the only outlet that seems to be carrying the story so far, efforts were made several days ago to contact the Navajo Nation Land and Geology Department, but no one seemed to have an answer as to what could have caused the rift, how big it might get, or.. what might come out of it. One thing is for sure – the residents are keeping a very close eye on it.

All I can think is that this would have made for such a great bit of Gears of War: Judgement advertising. So, who’s going to be the first to volunteer to repel in and send us some footage of the newly uncovered monsters geologic wonders lurking below Flagstaff?
