Was a UFO Just Hauled Through Kansas?

Was a UFO just hauled through a small Kansas town?

The residents of a small town in Crowley County, Kansas are buzzing over a recent UFO sighting. The thing is, it wasn’t in the sky. Instead, it was strapped to the back of a flat bed truck hurrying down US highway 77.

Donnetta Godsey of the Winfield Daily Courier told ABC7 that they began receiving phone calls about the strange cargo early last Monday.

“People were calling in saying, ‘Oh they think they found a flying saucer. It looks like a flying saucer to us and we don’t know for sure what it is.”

The object, wrapped in a silver tarp, measured about 32 feet from the front to the rear, and even appeared to be equipped with flashing lights. Luckily, a curious bystander snapped a few photos of the craft, much to the dismay Sheriff Don Read, who had been contacted by the trucking company with explicit instructions to keep news of the craft to a minimum.

“They told us that it was an aircraft and that they had explored other ways to transport it but this was the best way for them to do it and they asked us not to say a whole lot about it,” said Read.

Unfortunately for them, the object proved to be a little too big to get through the streets without a hassle, requiring signs to be temporarily removed while the load was gingerly eased through town. The entire ordeal took what amounted to an hour, more than enough time for a crowd of onlookers to gather around and gawk at the otherworldly cargo.

But the burning questions remain: what the heck is it and where did it come from? Is it a crashed alien spacecraft destined for a secret military installation? Undersheriff Bill Mueller seemed to know more than he let on, but told reporters that it could be an experimental aircraft, sans wings, designed for Naval carriers. Whatever it is, it’s headed to Maryland, says Mueller.

UPDATE: It appears that Northrup Grumman have confirmed that the craft was an X-47B Unmanned Aerial Vehicle destined for the Naval Air Station in Maryland. Or maybe that’s just what they want you to think..
